Monitoring - Service Description
Brief
RandomConsult performs continuous system monitoring and issues alerts according to customer needs. Subject of monitoring may be physical server or any service designed to be available over the Internet.List of services
Following services can be monitored (standard):-
TCP - any TCP service availability (typically http, https, smtp)
- Link quality - checking network connection for acceptable latency and packet loss
- Web page creation or download speed
- Content integrity - if your page or file is altered

DNS integrity - checks if your DNS records are genuine
- Server:CPU load
- Server:Disk space
- Server:Memory usage
- Server:Network utilization
- Server:Process list
- System: file age
Status
Every service has 3 states: OK, WARNING and CRITICAL. According to customer needs service status is set to reflect current situation.
Example:for typical web server:
if my server's HTTP port is not responding for 30 seconds set status to CRITICAL and
if my server's frontage is loaded in more than 15 seconds set status WARNING
Service status is normally refreshed every 5 minutes, but depending on customer needs it can be changed to 1-60 minutes.
Notification
If service status is changed notification is sent out. E-mail or sms can be sent. Customer can define free weekly schedule with up to 3 notification configurations.
Example:
Mon-Fri 08:00-18:00 - Send CRITICAL alerts to my mobile, send ALL alerts to
my e-mail and Bob's e-mail.
Mon-Fri 18:00-08:00 - Send ALL to bob's mobile
Sat-Sun - Send e-mail to Random NOC
Notifications are sent out no later than 10 minutes after status change. SMS delivery charges apply if we get charged by carrier.
Reporting
If ordered, monthly service up time reports are available.

Monthly fee:
5 EUR per service (5 minutes refresh time)
